Description of Program
Children on the Green provides child care for children living in the Morris Shelter, The New Jersey Battered Women's Shelter, and the Interfaith Council for Homeless Families in Morris County, as they transition to permanent housing. For all of the families enrolled, the center focuses on the individual needs of each child and will implement a program that supports those needs through small group experience.
Children on the Green is a licensed, non-profit child care center whose mission: supports the developmental needs of each child; reflects the surrounding community; creates interdependent partnerships between home, work, community and the Center; and, builds bridges to an inclusive community.
How the ministry has helped people in need: "Jen" was able to attend computer training courses and land an entry level position at Beneficial thanks to support from Children on the Green. The ministry cared for her son while she was in training, and helped her find an affordable child care center near her new office.
Entering a drug rehabilitation program, the DYFS (Division of Youth & Family Services) allowed Regina to keep her children while in the program because they were enrolled in the Children on the Green child care facility.
